To Whelm Or Not To Whelm

I was playing some "match the quote to the stupid republican" game, and apparently I didn't do so hot. In fact, it said, "Your knowledge is 'underwhelming.'

So my question is this: If a person can be both 'overwhelmed' and 'underwhelmed' can one simply be 'whelmed?'

Happy box wine drinking to those of you drinking boxed wine!

As far as I can tell, whelmed is the natural state. What I mean is, unless you're over- or under-, you're just plain whelmed.

That's the way my brain works it out. :)

Your're probably right...and being whelmed would be nothing much to speak of...which must be why we never hear of someone being whelmed.
