Not What I Had Planned

Well, I had great expectations for my first post, but I guess this will have to do. It's more of a Thanksgiving present to my best friend, Sarah....who is probably the only one who will ever read this anyway.

So happy Thanksgiving, Sarah...and Bruce. I won't tell you that I did this, you will just check one day and see that I have.

As dorky as it may be, I was sitting here thinking of what I am thankful for, and I actually have a list. So here goes:

1. I AM STAYING AT MY SISTER'S HOUSE TONIGHT. We always spent holiday eves together...sometimes because we were young and lived together, so we had to, but in the later years, because we wanted to and would have missed it if we didn't. This means more to me now than ever, because for the last three years I was with someone who made me feel guilty for spending time with anyone other than him. Because of that, I missed out on three years worth of holidays with my family.

2. I HAVE TODD. For anyone reading this who is NOT Sarah, Todd was the three year long relationship before Mr. Make-me-feel-guilty. The whole time we were apart I knew it was wrong, and I missed him. We (Sarah and I) went through many crazy drunken summers on the road to getting him back, but it finally worked...and things are better than ever because we both did some growing up. And the greatest of all: When Todd gets off work tonight, he's meeting me at my sister's, because he wants to spend the holiday with me AND my family.

3. MY NEPHEWS AND NIECES. Sky, Rhain, Rowyn, Jaida*, Ivy*, Jacob*, River*, and Lake*. Eight of the greatest little people ever. No.... they are the greatest. They are eight good reasons to be a better person, and I can't wait to have a sleepover with them tonight.
*indicates child not actually given birth to by a sibling

*Sarah S. (the good Sarah)
*Sammie H.
*Mindy ...and of course,

5. THE POSIBILITY OF REKINDLING FRIENDSHIPS. Some of them just kind of got lost along the way, and some need serious refurbishing. Stay tuned to learn more and see how those are turning out.

6. I THINK MY PARENTS ARE FINALLY HAPPY. After spending a good portion of my childhood trying to make them a little less depressed and cleaning up after all their messes....I think after almost fifteen years, they might actually be better now.

7. HELPING FAMILY MEMBERS WHO HELP THEMSELVES. And occasionally you when necessary. My cousin, Jenny and my brother, Mason: while a lot of help is needed, they don't seem to expect it, and would do the same for me.

*Sarah (a friend who is like family) and Bruce...not just because she married him (although that helped), but because he had the strange ability to fit in right away. Not many people can do that.
*Sarah's parents and brother. They've always included me and have been great. It's unfortunate that I usually only see them now when Sarah is around.
*Sammie (another friend who is like family). She is almost like a real sister...and sisters are great, so who wouldn't want another one?
*Mindy and family. They even took me in and treated me as their own when all hell was breaking loose in teen years.
*Jason. Because of the bitchy Mrs., we can't spend much time together, but when we do, things are like they always used to be.
*Sarah pressuring me to start doing this, because I think once I get a little further into it I might actually enjoy it....imagine that.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, SARAHHHH. (and you better comment)

Ha! I bet you didn't think I'd been checking every single day, did you? Only a little pathetic, I swear.

I'm going to email you something, and then tomorrow I'll send some people your way. I'm sure they're looking forward to this.

Thanks for doing this, Lisahhhh. You made my day.
